Penzance is a working harbour, home to fishing boats, leisure boats, sailing boats (both classic and modern), the cargo ship ‘Gry Maritha’ and the RMV Scillonian. Close to both the railway and bus stations, the harbour has toilet and shower facilities, water, electric, fuel and recycling are available. It is close to the town centre, with shops, supermarkets and Post Office nearby. Harbour gates are open from 2 hours before HW to I hour after. The Harbour Office is contactable on VHF Channel 12. There are harbourside cafes, pubs and a marine engineers and chandlery. The port has a rich maritime heritage, and is a favourite with yachtsmen either wishing to take in the glorious sailing to be had in the wide waters of Mounts Bay, from the Lizard to Lands End, or as a stopping off point on the way to the Isles of Scilly. Marine life is plentiful, as are the coastal walks and sandy beaches.
